Schöpflin Foundation
Commitment to a strong civil society
Villa Schöpflin was established in 2002 by the Schöpflin Foundation. The Schöpflin Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation under civil law based in Lörrach.
It was founded in 2001 by Hans Schöpflin and his siblings Heidi Junghanss and Albert Schöpflin. The descendants of the Schöpflin family of entrepreneurs from Lörrach wanted to use it to promote the interests of young people in particular.
The foundation finances its activities from the business activities of Hans Schöpflin, who achieved financial success as a venture capitalist in the USA. In Lörrach, the foundation is now committed to strengthening children and young people through its projects and facilities, providing food for thought on socio-political issues, and testing forms of participation. As a supra-regional funding foundation, it enables experiments through social venture capital and ensures their dissemination in civil society.
